This guy sounds incredibly selfish.

Turland shared with Achtman that his first grandmother was very close to dying of natural causes, so he couldn't understand why she chose to go through with a MAID death. "It just wrecked me," he said.

Two months later, his second grandmother — whom he described as one of his closest confidantes and one of his closest friends — also chose to pursue euthanasia. On her sickbed, she thanked him for letting her "go through" with euthanasia....

He acknowledges that both of them were sick and close to dying, but doesn't appear to care if either of them were in pain, or what their quality of life was. It's all about how it made him feel.

God decides when it’s our time.

If they are in pain give them meds but don’t kill them.

You have to read a lot into the story that isn’t there in order to support your position.

God was very clear when He commanded “Thou shalt not murder.” He made no exceptions for individuals allowing us to murder others.

God went even further : when you even think about murdering someone, you are guilty and need to repent.

Euthanasia is in fact murder.

It is VERY easy to guilt people into wanting to die, and people frequently do it to the weak, the sick, the depressed, the retarded, the imperfect, people they don’t like for petty reasons, etc.

No one is selfish for not wanting to murder someone or opposing murder.

The selfishness is on the part of those who:

A. Make the elderly, depressed, or unwanted feel like they are a burden.

B. Want to guilt people into helping them to commit suicide.

C. Are only concerned about themselves and not the damaging effect of their death on those remaining.

If you are depressed, there is medicine for that and people who can help you cope.
If you are in pain, there is medication for that too. God will take you out when He decides your purpose has been fulfilled, even if your purpose was only to enable someone else to love you or care for you.
