Most of the college kids I know, prefer to listen to 80s alternative music.

The big national FM channels like Jack FM and The River which are designed to appeal to a wide audience play older music. They play some newer stuff too but their "center of gravity" is the old stuff. And it's not because they're trying to appeal to an older audience. It's because young people like that music too.

It makes me wonder what will ever replace it. Will people still be humming along to Motown and A-ha tunes as they're out doing whatever 100 years from now? It's conceivable that it will endure as the common popular music forever.

Interesting in that as I recall 80s Alt appealed to college students in the 80s
