Very quick thinking on the part of the fielder. Strictly speaking a good call but not exactly clean.A way to "exploit" the rules.
Obviously, he wasn't playing the game the way it was intended to be played. But he's getting paid millions. He's a professional.

He played it absolutely correctly. And they learn this as kids. Kids are taught if the ball gets past them and gets stuck in the fence to throw their arms up and not touch the ball until the umpire allows them to. I’ve coached this. I promise this dude learned this rule when he was 10.
