After viewing the play, the Blue Jays got ripped off. That ball was easily playable. I mean, the outfielder got the ball anyway and threw it into play.

The outfielders knew it so they were able to manipulate the rule into getting a favorable call to g9 their way.

Maybe that is true, the outfielder took a chance and got lucky. We can argue all day long, but the rule gives the latitude to the umpire (in his judgement).
