“Ball was easily retrievable and playable”

That doesn’t matter. If it was under the padding at all, then it’s a dead ball.

Ball was easily retrievable? That's NOT the point! A WALL isn't supposed to CATCH a ball. The rules are clear here that a STUCK ball is a DEAD ball. End of story.

The Blue Jays definitely had the momentum but Hernandez short hop was amazing and Rojas catch was even more amazing.

That's baseball, folks!

Define “easily”.

Would 2 seconds of tugging be considered “easily”? How about 3 seconds of tugging?

Would using your fingernails be required?

Let’s say you weren’t using your fingernails and it took you 3 seconds to dislodge it but would have only taken 1.5 seconds if you had used your fingernails. Is that considered “easily”?

What if the center fielder grabs it and his hands slips off, grabs it again and is able to dislodge it “easily”, makes a throw to the base and is .001 seconds late? Would it be reasonable to say that the ball being lodged in the fence caused the runner to be safe?

This was the right call.

Please don’t be stupid and add to the conspiracy BS. The ball did not bounce off the wall. It was lodged into the wall. Clearly. That’s a dead ball, ground rule double case closed. I’ve played outfield in baseball. I would have done the same thing rather than make any effort to retrieve the ball. The call was made immediately.

“ Ball was easily retrievable and playable”

Can’t know that until you try to pick it up.
