You must have stopped watching 20 years ago. Russel T. Davies, the gay pervert was the producer, show runner and occassional writer for the show in 2005 to 2010. Reluctantly have to admit, he as responsible for the revival of the series with some of the best Doctors ever- David Tennant, Christopher Eccleston and I think Matt Smith was during his tenure. The series really went downhill after his departure with the first female doctor and it’s woke, preachy DEI nonsense.He came back in 2021 I think and put the final nail in the coffin of the franchise with the gay black doctor you’re referring to. From 2005 to 10, he kept his perversions out of the series, but now I guess he wants to rub our noses in it.
