Don’t Go Talking Smack About Our Girl Susan Collins

It's super weird to have a Republican in New England, and we conservatives need to sit back, shut up, and enjoy the ride.

As far as I'm concerned, she gets a permanent "Get Out of Conservative Media Outrage" card.

She's not a Thom Tillis or a Jim Lankford who talks a good game about being conservative and proceeds to stick us in the back.

Been waiting for an article like this. There are too many naysayers on this board. We need to thank her for the Kavanaugh vote.

She's not Jim Jeffords. She's not Lincoln Chaffee. Imagine Tillis or Lankford as the 51st vote in a democrat administration. How many other 'conservatives' would change their colors if they were the 51st?

Our problem is with the rinos in red states that keep getting nominated after they've gone stale as 'conservatives'. Think Cornyn, Murkowski. Mittens and Sasse had the good sense to get out.

The math is simple. We need 54-55 senate seats to cover for those that play games within their party. In some cases it’s good that they may vote out of political necessity or speak out. Rand is tolerable.

As somebody said (Reagan?)

Support the most conservative candidate who has the chance of winning!

And Susan is that candidate!
The only elected Republican in congress from the whole New England!
She surely has something working for her.

Yeah she is.

We need to thank her for the Kavanaugh vote.

We shouldn't have to thank her for pretending to be a Republican. Her only value is the "R" after her name.

I hope Collins wins. She's the best we'll get out of Maine.

We will soon be hearing on this thread and elsewhere from the purists who hope for Collins' defeat because "they're tired of choosing between the lesser of two evils" or some other trite response we've heard millions of times.

Those who spout those worn out cliches think they're smarter and more principled than everyone else, but what they're really doing is exposing their ignorance of politics and the reality of how the world works.

Flame away 'tards.

Yup. Meanwhile, the D’s Golden Nazi-Boy Platner’s campaign is causing many raised eyebrows, as is Gov. “Auntie” Mills’. She and her family of lawyer/grifters have more skeletons in their closet than can be counted. She’s crookeder than a dog’s hind leg.

Sorry, but she’s the best we can get from Maine. And yes she is valuable for numbers. If nothing else, we get to run committees because of her. Last thing we need is democrats running the committees.

She also could be the reason for the shutdown….indirectly.

She heads the Senate Committee on Appropriations. Schumer and gang don’t want her to have any political wins going into her reelection in 2026. They have blocked every effort coming out of her committee.

It’s all about a raw power grab on the left.

Good enough for me. Should be good enough for you. Just remember it’s Maine.

No one here in Maine is blaming Susan for the shutdown.

I will be working my ass off to get my friend Susan Collins across the finish line again in 2026. We are already laying the groundwork for 2026 in Southern Maine.

I have heard from many on both sides of the aisle that they will be supporting Susan Collins.

“She surely has something working for her.”

Just not for the rest of the country. It doesn’t make any difference about the R or the D in front of her name when she votes. According to GovTrack, Senator Collins is the most moderate Republican in the Senate; GovTrack’s analysis places her to the left of every Republican and four Democrats. When you have a senator that is more liberal than four democrats in the senate and left of every other republican, to include the moderates, then that’s not a safe republican vote.

Wrong. The R helps us with committee chairs. That affects the whole country especially the party.

You are wrong.
Yes, she is overall the most liberal Republican. when totality of her vote is analyzed.
She has to be, to stay in Senate as the only New England Republican.
But, she votes liberal, when it does not matter.
She never defeated a Republican bill by one vote or passed Dem bill by one vote. When it counts, she is actually pretty reliable Republican!

Good point; Collins is all we can hope for, but she may well be defeated in 2026 by Platner.
