I think high end sports cars, which are basically toys, are the perfect application for electric vehicles. From a strictly performance standpoint gas cars can’t hold a candle to EV’s. It is range and recharge time that make them impractical. Cars that purposely put performance over practicality will naturally move to EV, no incentives required.

Range and recharge time are performance metrics, as is safety. When airlines buy airframes they evaluate more than just speed and acceleration. The C-130 is still superior to almost any jet for what it does well, and so is the Corolla.

On paper, you have a point, especially since the Porsche costs a fraction of the cost of the Ferrari and the Bugatti. Nobody questions Porsche engineering, either. The whole experience is a bit different than what an EV is perceived to provide. Adding fake sound to an EV is like adding plastic trim work to a modern build pretending to be Colonial or Gothic. ,

The gear head car experience isn't just about speed or even acceleration. My daughter went to Barrett-Jackson. Huse line for a free ride in the Hellcat. NO LINE for the Mustang-E. They were literally begging people to give it a try.

It isn't even just nostalgia that will fade as the Boomers age out. In nearby Scottsdale, throngs of teen boys and young men (and some young women like my daughter) go to "Cars and Coffee" and similar. All the drooling is over the ICE Lambos, McLarens and Koenigseggs, etc.

The Corvette Zora should be out soon, if it’s not already out. It’s a hybrid for low end torque, not so much gas mileage.

I think they had an all-electric planned but I’m not sure.

You have a point.

Any observation of expensive “sports” cars will reveal most are driven by older men in a rather sedate manner.

Either from lack of vigor or traffic, most are driven like a Priaps.

Might as well be in a golf cart.
