Leading Senate Republicans want to vote within the next month on a package of bills to pressure Russia to compromise in Ukraine peace talks, but it’s not clear if President Donald Trump will back the legislation.

...

“I think Sen. Graham is suggesting a ‘Russia Week,’” Thune told reporters Thursday afternoon. “We’ll take a look at what that might consist of. I’ve been interested for some time in getting the sanctions bill up on the floor. We’re trying to do that in concert and coordination with the White House to make sure that we’re giving them the best possible opportunity to succeed in getting Russia to the table and hopefully get a peaceful outcome.”

I didn’t know there were any other sanctions to be tried. Maybe it would be good to try them, so that when that fails, too, there is a rethinking of the situation.

They have their own central bank and therefore infinite money. There can’t be any financial pressure.

Now troops invading Russia would be pressure, but I don’t think that can get the votes, or Trump approval.

Suppose Russia wins? What happens to Congress then?

I can tell you what happens to Congress then.

First of all, the media will note in small print that a pro Russia government has been installed. Then Russian troops will begin to draw down.

THAT will be the media focus. That will be Congress, celebrating their resolve.

The West has imposed 18 Sanction packages against Russia. Definition of Stupidity: doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

The West is just plain stupid. Sanctions ( and confiscating a sovereign countries money) has put the spike in the USD, Brics, record US Treasuries selling off, the world is changing, all the world’s Weslth is moving away from the West to the East.

Doubling down on Biden's failed strategy that resulted in a 40-year high in inflation would be a disaster and destroy the Trump Presidency.

We've already seen a five dollar jump in oil the last day.

Suppose Russia wins?

Suppose it does? The average person in this country couldn't give a hoot.

And, we won't have sanctions driving up gas prices, won't be depleting our weapon stock and wasting more taxpayer money on neo-Nazi hellhole.

Sounds great to me.

We didn’t stick by Trump through thick and thin to see him morph into George W. Bush and side with neocon scum like Lindsey Graham, Nikki Haley and Mike Pence.

Russia can march through Kiev, install a government, and then begin to return home, with that new government suffering from no guerilla warfare or any sort of resistance or stresses at all —

and the lead story will be Russian troops beginning to return home . . . with their tail between their legs.

“Russia can march through Kiev, install a government,”

Seems they can’t... Four years into Putin’s two-week week war.
