What’s the Deal with the Prophet Muhammad?
American Thinker ^ | 20 Oct, 2025 | Richard C. Crandall

Within Islam, the Prophet Muhammad is highly respected and revered. Even mentioning his name requires Muslims to follow it with an honorific like “peace be upon him.” He was also given prestigious titles, such as apostle, messenger, prophet, and warner. The popularity of the name Muhammad for baby boys also demonstrates the respect Muslims have for him. Muhammad has been a common name for boys in Muslim countries for centuries and is becoming increasingly popular in Western countries that have become infested with large Muslim populations. But then, who wouldn’t want to name their child after a serial rapist (see Juwayriyah, Mariyah, Rayhanah, and Safiyah), mass murderer, pedophile, slave owner, and wife abuser?

Why do Muslims hold Muhammad in such high regard? Is it because he was the author of the Koran? Muslims disagree on whether the Koran was created or uncreated, but they agree that Muhammad was not its author.

Is it possible that Muhammad is revered within Islam because he was the first messenger or prophet sent by the Islamic god? This isn’t the reason, since Muhammad was the last prophet. Before Muhammad, there were between 310 and 320 messengers and 124,000 prophets, meaning that Muhammad was “a prophet,” not “the prophet” of Islam. In fact, messengers and prophets have been sent to every community and nation to warn them about what will happen if they refuse to submit to Islam. When all of these hundreds of thousands of communities and nations recognized the depravity of Islam, they rejected and distorted its message to align more closely with their beliefs, which led to the need for more messengers and prophets.

Is Muhammad’s elevated status because he perfected Islam? Again, the answer is no. The Islamic god perfected Islam. The Islamic god told Muhammad that nothing was revealed

Why are we importing them into our country?

I think it’s spelled “Mohammed”, but who gives a rat’s ass?

That Mohammed never actually existed. He is a made-up character developed in response to Jesus Christ and Christianity.

War with Islam.
Not if.
Let’s embrace the fact that our party of depravity keeps wanting to import folks like this.

How do you explain the Arab conquests in the 7th century if Mohammed never existed?

There are people who claim that Jesus never existed, that he was invented by Josephus. Equally nuts.

“...Western countries that have become infested with large Muslim populations...”

Infested is a good word to describe MooseLimb immigration. They are a plague, just like the rats that killed off most of the world in the middle ages. You see NOTHING good come out of those Islamist countries.

The research is becoming known. There was no Mohammed, the Koran was developed over 100 years after he supposedly lived, and Mecca was never historically mentioned until at least the same time frame. It just doesn’t add up. See Ffander Films on youtube for numerous lectures on the subject.

I attended a Catholic College back in the 60s and we had to chose a non-Catholic religion to study for a full semester and I chose islam.

It is no religion of peace, the very core tenants written in the koran implore it's followers to kill Jews and Christians and all infidels.

And that is just for starters.

The koran is a book of hate and the founding principles have not changed in over 1400 years.

Christ said love thy enemy, not kill him.

There is only one solution for the muslim problem and it is ugly, but sooner or later, it will have to happen.

History...... 1400 years / over 700 MILLION innocent people murdered in the name of their prophet!

A mass of people who carry a "holy" book that says to murder all Jews and Christians who won't bow to their prophet. And now we're flooding them into our country and even putting them into our government.

Can American voters be more stupid or are we trying to destroy ourselves ???

The name mohammad can mean messenger. According to some historians of religion like Christoph Luxenberg (His book “The Syro-Aramaic Reading of the Koran: A Contribution to the Decoding of the Language of the Koran”) the Koran is a compilation of edited Syro-Aramaic very early Christian (possibly Gnostic Christian!) liturgical literature. Its reinterpreted by reading it in Arabic not its originally written language. (They use the same script in writing.) Somewhat analogous (but a bad one!) to a Spanish reading of text but it was originally written in an Italian dialect.
It’s believed that that the word mohammad i.e, messenger references Christ.

Whether or not Muhammad actually existed, to answer the question of the AT article of why Muhammad's teachings are so popular:

Islam is basically a license to enjoy a hedonistic life of stealing, raping, and killing, all under the guise that doing so helps you enjoy an eternal hedonism in heaven. Muhammad (or whoever) told the men around him whatever lies were necessary to convince the men around him to steal for him and kill for him and bring him a bunch of sex slaves. Today's Muslim leaders still teach and benefit from that.

It's hard to teach people to turn to God and live holy lives. It's easier to trick people into thinking God wants you to do whatever you want with your thingy, to steal whatever you want, and be violent to whoever you feel like being violent to. That's why Muhammad's (or whoever's) teachings are so popular in the Middle East, and unfortunately as they migrate to the west.

That is a great article!

I have often pondered this topic, because...no matter how you cut it, Mohammed was not in any way comparable to Jesus in any way, morally, intellectually, or spiritually. Especially morally, by our Western standards.

Mohammed did understand raw power, but that didn’t make him unique. There have been plenty of strong men throughout history who understood that quite well.

I am a huge fan of the now deceased Bernard Lewis and have read “The Middle East: A Brief History of the Last 2,000 Years” and “Islam: The Religion and the People”, but by far the most fascinating one was: “What Went Wrong?” that describes how Islam went from being an intellectual and military power to “The Sick Man of Europe” in the 19th century.

The short answer is: it was their arrogance.

They didn’t think Infidels could provide any useful knowledge. They viewed Infidel works as tainted.

While the Infidels were obtaining Islamic works in Arabic and translating them into other languages by the bushel basketful for dissemination and discussion, up to the point in the16th Century, hundreds of years, only ONE book, one single book in all those hundreds of years that had been translated from the West into Arabic: a book on how to treat sexually transmitted diseases. And that was only because that was thought to be an area of “Frankish” expertise, and therefore, permissible.

Most telling in the military aspect, in Bernard Lewis’ excellent book “What Went Wrong”, after their staggering naval defeat at The Battle of Lepanto in 1571 where the Ottoman Empire lost 113 galleys to 13 lost by the Holy League, there is a documented official account of a conversation between two Ottoman naval engineers examining the wreck of a Spanish or Genoese ship that had ended up on a beach, and they were astonished at the technology, weapons and construction, which were far superior to that of their own ships.

They fully saw their own inferiority, and were wondering not how to rapidly incorporate those changes into their own ship construction and weaponry, but instead, were wondering about the religious aspect of using Infidel technology, and the need to get an Islamic dispensation (an official “Fatwa”) to allow them to do it!

We in the West, and the USA in particular have our own faults, but we have no problems appropriating weapons technology and incorporating it, not to mention language, food, etc.

Everyone was essentially a slave to the Sultan. There was no sense of security in your life, your family or your property. The leaders of that fleet carried into battle everything they owned. Holy League ships seized fortunes of gold, silver, jewels, etc. on ships captured afloat, sinking or washing up to the shore.
