The poster is expressing that they are more annoying than Harry Mudd’s wife, Stella: A joyless person who can’t let anyone else have a break to enjoy (in this case) a terrific performance, either.
FWIW, this is the 2nd thread, that I know of, about Ohtani, that this sour person has attempted to disrupt.
How long were Cloninger’s home runs? That should count for something.
Ohtani’s first HR was one heck of a blast... Granted that the equipment is different, now, but 446 ft. (the figure I saw) is still dang impressive.
In any event, “the best in over 50 years” is not shabby.
The obnoxious person is YOU.
Good God, let people enjoy an enjoyable moment, even if you are incapable of enjoying it.
My wife finds low scoring games (not just in baseball) “boring”, but I maintain that sometimes, a deeper look reveals huge tensions and very hard competition. Back when I was in high school (my senior year), our basketball team was mediocre. But one night we played the conference leader at our place, and our coach had our guys play a slowdown game. It worked: Our opposition was caught off guard, and with a few seconds to go, the score was, IIRC, 12-12, and WE had the ball, off a turnover. Our forward (somewhat a friend of mine) got in pretty close, took a very contested shot, the ball hung on the rim, hung... hung... all while the gym was erupting in this incredible “cry” — and the ball went through the hoop literally less than a second before the buzzer went off. It was freaking amazing, and unforgettable, partially because the points were so precious to come by during the game. Talk about tension!
IIRC, we were something like 18 point underdogs. Beating those odds was... GREAT!
Totally agree! I was comparing Ohtani to Babe Ruth... but it seems to me Ohtani is far better than Babe Ruth was. Ohtani's pitching and hitting performances during Friday's game were astounding!
American baseball is American. Speak English.
Surely one of the best performances of all time.
I think he should take a few weeks, maybe a month off to savor exactly what he accomplished (this, coming from a true Mariners fan ;o) ).
Every Ohtani thread you drop the same, lame comment. Give it up knuckle head, you're just trolling for attention....Sheesh!
It is in my lifetime, and that's all that matters to me.
Ohtani’s performance was, perhaps, a once-in-a-lifetime super special treat for us die-hard baseball fans.
I remember hearing an interview with the home plate umpire who said Tony almost hit a third Homer. Don’t know if it would’ve been a slam.
Yes, that one occurred to me too.
Yes! :-)
Some of the Astros World Series (or even AL championship games) warrant discussion. What about the 6 hour game 5 versus the Dodgers? The Yordon homer to remove any hope for the Yankees?
