Yes, you read the headline correctly.
Here's DHS's news release:
In Governor J.B. Pritzker's Illinois, Illegal Alien Is Working as a Sworn Police Office with Badge, Gun, and a Pension.
Hanover Park Police Department records confirm, Radule Bojovic was approved by the Pension Fund Board of Trustees in January 2025 and was eligible to receive a starting salary of $78,955.70. Additional records indicate his 2025 earnings cost taxpayers $205,707 including $9,276 for FICA/Medicare taxes.
Bojovic had a B2 TOURIST visa that was set to expire in March 2015. He decided he didn't want to go back home to Montenegro, so he just stayed in America and eventually got a job AS A COP.

How do you like that? RATS want to take away guns from law-abiding American citizens in this country, yet they hire a criminal who overstayed his visa for 10 years, give him a badge, a gun, and a decent salary and benefits. How many others are there like him on the force? They likely by-passed white men and women on a civil service exam to give this guy the job. If that’s happened, then the people who were discriminated against when they hired this guy, need to sue the city and state for big bucks.
This guy was born in Montenegro...A country in Eastern Europe...I saw his picture...He looked white...
I do not think that he got the police job more easily because he was some white guy born in Eastern Europe...Just my opinion...
This could be used as the example to show that ICE is not just harassing illegal aliens from south of border...This cop is a white illegal alien from Eastern Europe...
This guy used a fake social security card? And a fake green card? An interesting case...
Yeah, apparently he wasn't hired using his expired visa. He had to have had a fake one, and a fake social security card. Makes you wonder what background check they did on this guy. They had to have taken fingerprints from him before they even hired him. That's standard practice. Chicago does allow individuals with Green Cards who are permanent residents in the country to apply for the job, but I don't understand how they can allow someone who isn't actually an American citizen to carry a weapon.
My uncle came from Canada as a little boy with his mother and his toddler sister (my mother). When he enlisted in the US Army in 1942, he wasn't a US citizen. Because there was no record of his original entry date, the Army took him to Niagara Falls, and made him walk back across the Peace Bridge, and used that as his official entry date. He was naturalized at Fort Sam Houston in Texas where his unit was briefly stationed on their way to California to go overseas.
