It’s moreso a reflection of indoctrination replacing education, but there’s more.
Convenience is king. Why should I put aside a week or weeks of my time to sit down and read a book?
This is part of the reason why there has been a rise of audio books. Convenience is king. People aren’t giving up necessarily on new or good content, they’re giving up on moldy oldy ways of consuming it.
That’s why we(I) need to record into audio as much of the works of the Founding Fathers as I can, so we can leverage the advantage of convenience.
Books are dead. It isn’t the internet or video games or anything like that that did it. Convenience is king.
I think it's more the shortening attention span.
Younger people just don't enjoy reading as much, whether on paper, ebook, or audio book. Not if the book is long.
I read that even movie watching is in decline, with young people's leisure time more devoted to TikTok videos.

I read. A lot. I have found a trove of history, old and recent in the local library’s “discarded” book store. I have read about the CIA fṛom 5 different vantage points and the Gulf War in the memoirs of each of the commanders, Army, Marines, Navy and overall. I have read the history of the Wars of the Roses and of the Tudors and much et cetera. I am reading the life of Cab Calloway now. For 7̀ cents each I read many things I would not havepicked up otherwise and only one was not worth the time.
Outside of FR I don’t look at screens much. I have a cell phone because my boss requires I have one but I don’t give my number to anyone other than boss and wife. I do read many boooks- no fiction.
The thing about recordings is, the type and form of recordings go away. Books are substantial. Virtual books can also be edited. I’ll stick with books, they can always be recorded in the future, but recordings once destroyed are gone.
