An elderly New Yorker was tragically killed when Monday’s nor’easter blew a solar panel from a roof and sent it careening into the streets below.
A forceful wind gust ripped the massive solar panel – more than 7-by-3 feet across — from an outdoor parking lot structure on Ocean Parkway near Brighton Beach Avenue, according to the NYPD and the city’s Department of Buildings.
The panel was swept up by the wind and flew about 20 feet, then struck 76-year-old Lyudmila Braun, cops and buildings officials said.

Ok, I have a slightly tilted sense of humor, but one of the first things that popped in my brain was a skit from SNL many years ago, 2 guys sitting on a beam hundreds of feet up eating their lunch and trading painful accident stories and then saying.. “I hate that when that happens”. Watching daytime TV commercials has shown me there is an ambulance chasing lawyer on every street corner.

These panels should be like safety glass where once they separate, instead of remaining as large "plates", they shatter into small cubes.

Solar panel control? We need wind control! For far too long wind has been allowed to blow indiscriminately wherever it wants to, with no accountability!

Solar panels need regular cleaning and sometimes, somebody falls of the roof.
Calculated for the Watts delivered, solar is by far the deadliest energy source!
