In February 2024, we reported that Mason Herring, a Houston attorney, had pleaded guilty to injury to a child and assault of a pregnant woman. As part of a plea bargain, Herring was sentenced to a slap on wrist–180 days in jail and 10 years of probation–for secretly drugging his wife’s drinks multiple times to induce an abortion while she was pregnant with their third child.
Herring admitted spiking water with the abortion drug misoprostol, which Catherine Herring told the court resulted in her giving birth 10 weeks early. Fortunately, the unborn child survived.
But last week, KTRK, a Houston television station, reported that the disgraced lawyer was sentenced to eight years in prison for violating a civil protection order taken out by his ex-wife in 2022, the same year she divorced him.
According to reporter Luke Jones, Herring twice violated the protective order that said he was “supposed to stay at least 500 feet away from his ex-wife and cease communication with her because of the protection order.
Yet court records show Catherine Herring told police he tried calling her twice on Feb.11.
Mason Herring is also accused of violating the 500-foot perimeter two times during supervised visits with his three children.
As one of the visits at his apartment was wrapping up, on Feb.22, police say he lingered in the lobby until Catherine Herring arrived to pick up the children. Police say he even looked out of the window and told the children she was there.
On March 23, police say he pulled up “nearby” in a vehicle while his ex-wife was dropping the children off
Prosecutors allege Mason Herring knew full well when Catherine Herring would be arriving to drop off the children
There is no record of Catherine responding to the new sentencing. But at the time of the original ultra-light sentence, “I do not believe that 180 days is justice for attempting to kill your child seven separate times,” she said according to Daniela Hurtado and Courtney Fischer of ABC13. “For two years, my husband has overly denied this assault, and I’m grateful today that he has finally admitted to his guilt.”
Mrs. Herring said that as a result of her ex-husband’s multiple attempts
their 1-year-old daughter was born premature, has developmental delays and attends therapy eight times a week. “Incredibly hard, unspeakably difficult, we just take one day at a time,” she said.
Background
Ms. Herring said, “it started after she found out he was having an affair and asked for a separation,” Choi reported.
That’s when she found out she was pregnant with their third child. She said he wasn’t happy about it and even sent a text message saying that it would ruin his plans and make him look like a “jerk.”
Mrs. Herring said her husband’s first attempt to poison her
was during spring break when he gave her a glass of cloudy water and mentioned the importance of staying hydrated. She didn’t suspect anything at the time, but she became violently ill and had to go to the emergency room.
After that, she said, he continued to bring her drinks that were spiked with what she eventually found out was misoprostol, a drug used to induce abortions.
She said she didn’t consume the drinks, but instead kept them as evidence and turned them over to Houston police. She also provided videos from hidden cameras she installed at her home where he was no longer living.
Subsequently Mrs. Herring “became ill and was taken to urgent care. The baby survived after being born 10 weeks prematurely and weighed just over three pounds,” Hurtado and Fischer reported.
“I watched in real-time as darkness overcame you. As addictions became your priority,” Catherine said to Mason.
Hes just an amateur abortionist. In some states they’d give him a clinic for his entrepreneurship.
Doesn’t he realize only women are allowed to kill babies. It’s in the constitution.
“Fortunately, the unborn child survived.”
She gave birth 10 weeks early, the child, still unborn, survived?
This author should have stayed working at Starbuck’s.
if I read correctly, he has visitation with a child he tried to kill?

This attempted murderer should not be allowed near these or any children, EVER!
The state can't even argue he was practicing medicine without a license because he has the same argument she has when she claims "my body, my right" despite it being the child's body.
"I didn't give the drug to her; I gave it my child."
From 1729: Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal"
I agree he needs to be in prison - but so do all the women who voluntarily abort their babies - along with the “doctors” who do the killing...
He’s only being jailed because Planned Parenthood didn’t get a shot at the wife first…
A public school teacher can do that to young girls in some states and be rewarded for it.
So while an 8 year sentence for violations of a protection order by violating the 500-foot perimeter two times seems a lot, that an adulterer and murderer only received an 8 year sentence versus execution by communal stoning is what is not biblical.
It’s a “clump” of cells…. (Sarc)
While I’m glad he’s headed to prison...
Yep...it’s like “Schrodinger’s ‘fetus’”....it’s both human and not human at the same time, depending on who kills it.
If the shoe were on the other foot, NOTHING happens. If he wants her to have the baby, and she takes the pill and aborts it, NOTHING happens.
Regardless of everything else. THAT’S not right. Equal treatment under the law and all of that.
Bad, bad Dad.
