Japan was going to surrender anyway, and we killed thousands of people (including the biggest Christian community in Japan) for no reason.
By the way, I believed for most of my life the story that the bombs were a "necessary evil". It's disconcerting to learn that it wasn't the case.

Ok, now I get it. You are either a misguided (brainwashed/indoctrinated by leftists in public school?) child posting via his parents’ internet connection... or a senile, Biden-like dementia patient posting, no doubt, from a ‘secure’ facility. I’m not even curious as to which it is. At this point, I just want the sublime stupidity of your posts to go away...lol.
>>”Well, if you really want to get into it, history now pretty conclusively shows that the bombs were not necessary, and were used mostly to put on a show for the benefit of Stalin.

Where are you getting your information? Japan was going to surrender? Then why didn’t they? Why did it take them 9 days from the bombing of Hiroshima to surrender even after a second bomb on Nagasaki was dropped?. And BTW, both Hiroshima and Nagasaki were involved in large scale weapons manufacturing during the war and had strategic importance from that perspective.
As far as not being necessary, that’s only true if you think saving the lives of the hundreds of thousands of Americans that would have been lost from a ground invasion, was not necessary.
