The Second Amendment should be number one as it protects all of the other amendments.

A Biden supporter I knew had never heard of the First Amendment or the Bill of Rights (she somehow graduated high school).

So for some the question is not “WHAT ARE THE TOP 5 MOST IMPORTANT AMENDMENTS?” It’s “ARE THERE ANY AMENDMENTS” or better still “WHAT’S AN AMENDMENT?”

Second Amendment: The Second Amendment protects GUARANTEES the right to keep and bear arms.

Justice Joseph Story, in his 1833 “Commentaries on the Constitution:”

The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them.

Good question. !st, 2nd, 10th. Then there’s the two that established the income tax and allowed senators the popular vote. The others are too unremembered. Are you suggesting getting rid of a few are possible? Slavery is not a threat so should we get rid of that one/

25th-the Kenyan would still be in office.

Repealing the 16ht amendment and the Commerce Clause would be something else.

Exactly. And thanks be to God for James Madison who insisted it be included in The Bill Of Rights.

It’s not that the other Founders were not for it but they felt is was a given but Madison insisted it be included so there would never be any doubt about the right to ‘’Keep and bear Arms’’.

“...the right to ‘’Keep and bear Arms...”

Note that bears are already well armed.

Just ask that guy in Ark. the other day.

Nothing to fool with.

[My wife saw one yesterday in SMNP but a few feet away from kids as we deove along a “vehicle trail”.]

A graphic above the visitor center urinas proclaimed it was best to stay >50 yards away.

The Second Amendment is the only one that isn’t just ink on paper. It is, by far, the most important one. It’s the only one you can put your hand on when needed....

“Disagree, especially with regard to the 14th.

2, 1, 5, 4, 10”

I fully agree.
Look at what has happened to our modern society.
2) Guns are our only defense.
1) Free speech on street corners is useless when
Airwaves are controlled by government.
5) Not so sure we torture people too much any more.
other than tax them to death.
4) Modern Democrat government policies have made a joke of this one!
10) States gave up power when they started to accept Federal funds so this one is a joke also.

Fix America!
1) Make sure we can have guns and ammunition if we want them.
2) States should have most the power, don’t send them money,
let them tax their citizens. Y’all don’t take money from
New York to pay for California infra-structure projects.
3) Abolish Federal income taxes.

Toss all the rest of the amendments.
This is the 21st century.
Update the Constitution!

Actually each ratified Treaty is at least one amendment. And hardly anybody knows how many treaties have been ratified, how many are still in effect and what is them. Many treaties have secret clauses.

Lol! I've often wondered why certain words in our founding documents are capitalized and others are not.

18th, century grammar?
