Agreed. And if we don't go digital ID, we'd still have problems like that. But we can avoid them by (speaking like the prepper in me LOL):
Removing the fuse in your car for internet connection.
Having most of your home powered from decentralized solar.
Having two car types -- one gas car and one EV -- so that the left would have to restrict both types of car energy (both gasoline and charging) to restrict your long trip driving.
By doing most local driving in the EV, the left can't stop your local transportation even if they restrict both gasoline and power (because you charge your EV with home solar).
