I remember an Oregon murder that was solved when morons tried to redeem scratch-offs they’d stolen in the murder/robbery.

My ex’s cousin embezzled a bunch of money ($10k IIRC), and bought it all in scratch-offs. His thinking was that he would win more than $10K on the tickets, and he’d just return the $10K before anyone noticed and keep the profit.

Some people don’t understand how lotteries work.
