A tourist to Las Vegas is now warning others after she was charged more than $200 for using a wall socket at a popular hotel.
Sharina Butler, of the Bahamas, was staying at the Paris Hotel Las Vegas when she received a bill for $224 due to her son unplugging a tray used for mini-bar snacks and drinks.
The policy, which is written on a small card in the front of the tray, says there's a $56 charge for every day the tray remains unplugged.
'You've got to be kidding me,' she told the hotel employee, she recalled in a TikTok video. 'The tray isn't attached to any electricity, the tray isn't attached to anything, it's just a plug.'
She explained that they had unplugged the tray to charge their phone while sitting at the small desk inside the room. Butler also said she didn't read the note on the minibar because she knew she wasn't going to touch any of the overpriced items.
'The writing on the tray is this small,' she said, holding up two fingers close together. 'Why am I reading a tray when I'm not touching it... The only thing it should be saying is that if you move something off the minibar, you will be charged, right? But that wasn't the case.'

Probably has an RFID sensor in it.
Well I can see that it is duel outlet. And one has a desk lamp plugged into it. So why not unplug that one and use the outlet.
Good question.
Now that you know, pack a three socket multiplug.
Whenever I worked the Sydney flights, we got to the hotel before anything was open, so if I was hungry, or more often, thirsty and dehydrated, I would snack off the mini bar and guzzle the $10 bottles of water before crashing for a couple of hours sleep. Then when I was up and about later that afternoon, I’d hit a grocery store and buy and replace the items I had consumed. Guess they caught on to flight crew hijinks.
What the hell’s wrong with her... NEVER UNPLUG A MINIBAR!

Especially in the back room and the alley.

At least that’s what Brad said
hahaha.....exactly.
The “duct tape” on the ice bucket is a disposable plastic liner.
Not just LV. I reserved a room in Maryland at a discount at one of the chain “suites” motels through Hotels .com or something. Upon entering, found television stand pulled out slightly from the wall and TV unplugged, so I plugged it in , may not even have watched anything. When I got my credit card statement, I found I had been charged full price for the room.
An “organized crime” group runs most cities. It just isn’t the old mafia. The new “bosses” are various politicians and their ilk.
Just think. Gasoline used to cost 19 cents per gallon!
Have you stopped driving your vehicles?
Las Vegas is a cruel joke at this time. Anyone going there is going to be fleeced from A-Z.
When the mob ran it, they at least let you have fun. Rooms and food were cheap, and so was the entertainment. Now, they charge you for literally everything.
No, its not fake. Vegas is just that bogus now.
The bonus bets cost more and pay less. Used to be $1. Now its $5.
No it is a total rip off that most people won’t even know about. Who really expects to be charged for touching something sitting out on the counter.
In most hotels, those are the freebies for guests, not sucker traps.
The mob was less crooked and less greedy than the people that run them now.
It wasn’t the minibar but the tray sitting out with a sensor on it. Who really knows about these things? They don’t exist in most hotels.
