An NCAA Division II college football game between Central State University Marauders and Fort Valley State University Wildcats descended into chaos on Saturday after the final whistle had blown.

Central State defeated Fort Valley State, 18-14, to spoil the Wildcats’ homecoming day. But the action didn’t end there.

A video posted to social media by journalist Kalan Hooks showed two players from the Wildcats getting into a melee with a player from the Marauders. The players began to dogpile on top of each other with some punches being thrown in the ruckus. Just when things appeared to cool down and players were separated, another skirmish occurred near the bleachers.

"Coaches, get your players off the field," the public address announcer was heard saying.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), which both football programs belong to, announced on Monday that 20 players were suspended over the brouhaha – 11 players from Central State and nine from Fort Valley. Both head coaches were also suspended

Sounds more interesting than the usual football game. ESPN should should show the replay.

“Amish” is sometimes slang for Negro youths engaging in uncivilized behaviour. Urban dictionary is of no help in the origin of the usage.

FYI....while once a proper term for people of Black African origin, its use is now controversial, considered offensive by many, but still found in historical contexts and some older institutional names. The modern preference is for terms like “Black” or “African-American”.

In that case, I probably need to switch to what must be the proper label, since it appears in the name of a leading organization and on a charitable organization that supports various colleges and university, and was formerly used in the name of an entire religious denomination. Used to see that one on some waiting rooms and over some water coolers. So, historically founded, as well.

Would you prefer that one to Negro.

Reminds me of an attorney I worked with (who knows, maybe you are her) that whatever label someone used, she’d repeat it in a shocked and offended tone of voice. Put most white folk on the defensive. I think she respected me because I didn’t flinch and didn’t back off. I also told her that I was a Cracker, and she was free to call me that.

This is not a racist site so we are not using terms that are associated with racism.

President Trump is not "woke" but you won't hear him use those terms.

After the 1970s, we stopped using those words in our language.

So each time if a FReeper uses an outdated word, I'm going to call him out on it.

Well, I grew up in the mid-century South, so I can think of at least a half dozen real slurs. So if you think of the names of the UNCF or NAACP as bigoted, you’ve led a really sheltered life. The CME has changed its name, so they aren’t a good example any more.
