In other words, the AOC/Mamdani regime - God forbid!
I saw them during their tour in support of Works. Or rather, it started as that. Turns out, it costs a fortune to tour with a full orchestra, especially when the venues aren’t full. They did Tarkus in entire (I’m more of a Trilogy guy), and pretty much had to do “Fanfare for the Common Man”, using the recording of the intro. We were so close, we could see E and L exchanging “what have we become” looks as they stood there while the tape rolled.
Time Stand Still.
Before I retired I worked with an arch Todd fan (she’s a couple years older) who went to see him at a Grand Rapids venue (I think it was 20 Monroe, more of a club atmosphere), she said he still sings great. I’ve seen him, uh, hmm, three times, but the last time was over 40 years ago. 🎵
So did I and 24 more times after that
Nice! What a great memory.
When I saw them, there was a problem with the sound and electricals.
It kept interrupting the show until finally one of them threw their guitar way up in the air and it crashed and busted into several pieces.
After about ten minutes the problems were fixed.........................
I think I’ve heard that before, I just forgot.
Karen Carpenter. Singer, lyricist... drummer. I'm Sirius.
Now I get a headache thinking about it.
The two guys getting back on stage is totally cool.
I caught their last tour through, and it was so nice how they got back to more of their roots.
There is a lot of it on youtube.
If they are smart they stay away from political issues.
They were libs back when libs could still be cool.
Saw ELP in Spokane, Brain Salad Surgery tour. Incredible! Had to have been before 1976, that’s when I graduated from Gonzaga.
Neil Peart did not join the band until the album 2112.
Rush was very big in Buffalo, where I grew up.
Mostly because we listened to the radio stations from across the lake from Toronto, their hometown. A lot of the Toronto radio stations broadcast from the top of the CN tower. So, they had a much bigger range than the stations in Buffalo.
Rush was big in all the blue collar rust belt cities around the Great lakes. They were huge in Cleveland. Everyone could identify with “Working Man”. “Seems to me I could live my life, a lot better than I think I can, that’s why they call me the working man!”
Don Henley, singer, lyricist, drummer
Phil Collins, singer, lyricist, drummer after that Peter Gabriel left the band.
Big fan of middle period Phil.
Neil Peart did not join the band until the album 2112
++++++++
Neil was in the band on Fly by Night (1975) and Caress of Steel (1975). The first album (RUSH - 1973) is the one with John Rutsey.
I find it amazing how many people I have known that “survived the holocaust”
it is almost like the germans were not actually trying to kill the jews
NOTHING beats Alex Lifeson’s “Blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah” acceptance speech.
A Hammond B3. I saw them in Boston (1979?). To end the show. Keith Emerson picked the thing up and smashed it to pieces. What a racket that made. Good times.
