I think that the left views crime in a marxist way. Theft and robbery is viewed as redistribution of wealth and violent crimes like assault and murder are viewed as retribution of the “have nots” against the repression of the “haves”. That is until the crime happens to them and then it is different.
Such people are not really jurists or even members of civilization, they are enemy combatants from the abyss and ought to be dealt with appropriately.
