Disappointed Saturday Night Live fans have blasted last night's show as unfunny, after the new season kicked off on a sour note.
The late-night sketch comedy show opened its 51st season with a jab at Donald Trump's crackdown on TV, with James Austin Johnson reprising his role as Trump.
Colin Jost was dropped in as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as he gave an SNL rendition of his recent viral speech to top army brass earlier this week.
Jost had portrayed Hegseth as a boozed up frat commander hellbent on rewriting military culture.
'Our military will now have the same rules as any good frat party. No fat chicks, and if you're a fat dude, god damn it, you better be funny as hell!' Jost joked.

Just wondering during four years of Dementia Joe and his drunken VP, did SNL ever go after them, even ONCE..my guess is NO even though they had enough material to last 20+ yrs
Liberals are just not funny. They are so motivated by hate it just comes off as negative. Not fun to watch. You can find things to make fun of on both sides. Plenty.
I was watching our local news and when it ended, SNL started up. It immediately went to some retarded-looking Hegseth impersonator and I hit the “off” button.
Why don’t they just rename the show. ORANGE MAN BAD
It's not humor because it's one-sided.
Exactly.
‘Liberals are just not funny. They are so motivated by hate it just comes off as negative. Not fun to watch.’
At all.
I don’t even have to watch the skit to know it was unfunny.
You can’t be both woke and funny - it’s just not possible.
The funny comedians of the past knew how to make fun of themselves, and make fun of human nature in general.
As soon as you try to use humor to signal your own virtues and to mock those you hate and disagree with, the humor is gone. “Poof”. All that’s left is the hate, and hate is just not funny.
BOTH fans were disappointed?
They were liberal but they were able to make fun of themselves.
Recently, they became leftists so comedy is now dead.
Hatred is not very humorous.
Dave Chappelle did in a monologue, but was then ostracized.
I imagine there is a huge market for a sketch comedy group to appear on alternative media. Something like SCTV, MadTV and Studio C, sprinkled with Robot Chicken.
I believe Bad Bunny hosted. You have four months to educate yourself.
Unfunny?!! It hasn’t been funny in 30 years!
