Sounds like the plot of Lost Horizon, by James Hilton. Made into a 1937 movie with Ronald Colman, Sam Jaffe and Jane Wyatt.

Yes, it is. It just used to be players reenacting a scene in the house of a nobleman for a pittance, preferably with a harpsicord accompaniment. This man has managed to survive this archaic you tube, and progress from there to Vaudeville You Tube and then the silver screen and television YouTubes, just sitting and meditating for everyone’s viewing pleasure, until he got onto the modern YouTube. Amazing.

I imagine that there were a fair number of folks born ~1895-1900 who lived IN three centuries (19th, 20th, 21st) rather than for 3 centuries
