She’s got a doctorate; she won’t starve. Her PTSD will be an issue wherever she is, and unless she gets at least a full-fledged Green Card (like my Canadian wife has), a lot of things related to her status can trigger her PTSD here. Going home may alleviate a lot of that, even if it introduces new issues.
