Utah doesn’t use public defenders for capital cases. Up to three attorneys and $1M public funds. Private lawyers paid with public (translation: taxpayer) money. God knows how much they are allowed to bill per hour.

Why are there three appointed? I would think one attorney should be able to handle a murder case? What is so special about this one?
