Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov on Monday claimed that hundreds of thousands of Moldovan citizens living in Russia were denied the opportunity to participate in Moldova’s parliamentary elections, alleging that Chisinau provided only two polling stations across the Russian Federation.
“From what we see and know, we can confirm that hundreds of thousands of Moldovans were deprived of the opportunity to vote in the Russian Federation due to the fact that only two polling stations were open to them, which, naturally, was insufficient and could not allow everyone to vote. This is something we can simply state,” Peskov told reporters at the Kremlin, cited by the state-run Tass news agency.
He further accused the Moldovan authorities of blocking engagement with Moscow, which he said makes any discussion of a settlement in the breakaway region of Transnistria nearly impossible.
“Regarding a settlement, it’s a very, very complex issue. With the current Moldovan leadership as our counterpart, of course, it’s very difficult, almost impossible, to talk about it right now. I’m referring to a Moldovan leadership that effectively rules out dialogue with the Russian Federation,” he said.
The Kremlin spokesman added that while the situation in Transnistria remains “quite calm,” the risk of provocations cannot be excluded.
“We see that the situation there is currently quite calm. But at the same time, of course, the threat of provocations cannot be ruled out,” Peskov noted.

Moldova is a sovereign country. Its voting procedures are no concern of Russia. Butt out!
Dear FRiends, Our FReepathon is our next concern. We still need to raise approximately $4k before the end of the month to meet our goal! And I think we’re gonna need a little prayer here. Thank you very much and God bless you.

Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years a War that should have taken a Real Military Power less than a week to win.

You think like a westerner. Western “ Shock and Awe” works fine for goat herders, and weak adversaries. Just another reason Russian wins, the West has absolutely no concept how Russia has waged war ( and won) for centuries.
The West has no stomach ( nor the manufacturing, or money) for an extended war of attrition. Numerous Pentagon reports state in a war with our peers, we blow our wad within one week…..China and Russia are masters of attritional warfare, proven time and time again.

Like they did in Romania? Or like they have done in France in working to ban Marine Le Pen? Or like the attempt at color revolutions in Georgia and Serbia recently?
The EU is a tyrannical hellhole and, as Viktor Orban, one of the few conservative leaders in Europe, has said has become a bad parody of the old Soviet Union.
One of the founding fathers of "federal Europe," Altiero Spinelli, was an Italian Communist. When I had mentioned this in prior threads, a few Freepers challenged me, and when I "brought the receipts" with multiple hotlinks to verify my statement, they responded only with bluster, if at all.
A number of the European parties' founding documents follow the same "socialism is the ultimate aim," through moderate and patient work to 'nudge' a populace. The SPD in Germany and Labour in the UK speak to this. as did the origins of the Ba'ath parties in the Arab world. As does the US' Democratic Socialists of America.
The hysteria over the war between non-NATO Ukraine and non-NATO Russia obscures on which "side" socialism actually sits. It seems to sit on many sides, making the remainder of the issue simply about which will control resources when the end is reached.
Re-reading through this thread in its entirety, it is evident the one to whom you addressed the question has not answered. So much for Freepers in a discussion forum turning ever more into merely propaganda outlets.
However, what is much much more important is the fact that neither those who are elected to run our countries, nor those selected to run the EU answer that and other questions regarding how the Union is run!
It's moronic to hint it's better to stay stuck in trading low quality goods with Russia, vs raising your standards and being able to trade with the EU
Yup, no big deal, largest war in Europe since WW2, with more than one million casualties, just don't get "hysterical". Okay
No, you didn't do better the second time. :-)
Now if the EU really cared about the people of Moldova, why not ease the rules making it easier for the apple growers and other small businesses to export to the EU?
But they cannot do that because their bueraucratic rules are more important than everything else. And if they cannot ease the rules now why would they do it once Moldova is part of EU?
But, but, but.
I've been repeatedly assured those losses are mostly on the Russian side. Surely that would please a "cold warrior?"
Human nature. Once you "ease" the rules everyone asks for extensions, refusing to make the necessary changes
Funny how every country has been able to somehow comply with the rules
It is sooo easy to condemn people you know very little about. Moldova is a poor country and there will be many who will not be able to comply.
Of course you were right. Just goes to show how poorly EU is understood - even at FR.
EU is anti-dmocratic. Jean Monnet, the founding father of EU, always intended for Europe to be governed by “experts” and not by the “great unwashed masses”. Strangely enough what he learned from WWI was that democracies would create wars and “selected” politicians would keep the peace.
To learn this from the total F--- U- of July to August 1914 by such democratic luminaries as Tsarist Russia, the Empires of Germany and Austria-Hungary, and the strong Presidential autocracy of France – not even in Great Britain was the Parliament asked about whether Britain should or shouldn’t join the war – must be the most weird lesson ever drawn from that political catastrophe.
PS For those who don't believe me read The Great Deception by Christopher Booker and Richard North.
Yup, so your answer is just to ignore EU standards. I’m sure that would end well, or even better continue to produce low grade products that only countries like Russia will buy in the belief that continuing on that road will raise Moldova out of poverty. Okay
You are a bit late to that conversation. The positive effects of so called EU standards and EU regulations have been discussed for decades. If you believe in free markets there are no positive effects. If you are a socialist or mercantilist then you are all for it.
The choice is yours.
Okay, don’t visit any of the EU countries, go to Moldova
You really aren’t very bright.
I live in a EU country. Though, I fought for our country staying out of the Euro-zone, and we did. And we are doing very well with our own currency, thanks for asking. We would do even better out of the EU, but unfortunately the political situation is not ripe for a SWEXIT yet.
PS: I couldn’t find you on the donors board. The Freepaton is winding up - less than two days to go. You aren’t a freeloader, are you?
Congrats on not being in the EU, hope that country is wealthy like the UK, and not some shithole where tourists can't even drink the water.
