I take creatine as a pre-workout supplement. Gives me a slight energy boost plus the muscle gain. Available in the supplement section of most grocery stores. Micronized type is tasteless and soluble.

And eating animal protein after a strenuous work out has been known known for a long time for recovery and also gain.

Eat the protein within 60 minutes of the work out.

Yes, it boils down to this fact. Humans are primarily Meat eaters. It has been this way since we were eating Mastodons, Mammoths, and Giant Sloths... In fact they claim that our Brains did not start increasing in size and intelligence until we started primarily eating Meat. Nothing has changed... The Human body needs Meat period...
