Check out the full Week 5 slate below:
(Excerpt) Read more at espn.com ...
The action starts on Friday night as the resurgent Seminoles pay a visit to Thomas Jefferson's University. Interestingly Florida State despite obliterating their opponents are only a 7-point favorite against the losers of the English Civil War Cavaliers.
There are two interesting noon ET games. One is the Domers visiting Walmart University. Hogg head coach Sam Pittman has seen his already hot seat get hotter after blowing a double digit fourth quarter lead against Memphis. Notre Dame after starting the season with two losses needs to run the table for a chance at a playoff spot. The game features two high quality QBs in CJ Carr for the Rudies and an absolute physical specimen in Taylen Green. There are rumors of subterfuge in Fayetteville as OC and infamous motorcycle rider Bobby Petrino is angling to get his old job back if Pittman is fired. The Domers are a 4.5-point favorite.
The other game in this window is USC visiting Illinois. USC has been racking up wins under the radar led by QB Jayden Maiava. See what mindset Illinois is after getting taken to the woodshed by Indiana. The Trojans are a touchdown road favorite
Get out the clicker at 3:30 ET. One game is THE Ohio State University paying a visit to Husky Stadium. I am sure Husky Stadium will be swaying at kick off. This might be the nation's introduction to Huskie QB Demond William, Jr. The last time the Buckeyes visited Seattle was in 2007. THE Ohio State is an over touchdown favorite
Next, we travel to Oxford for the Kiffin Bowl as LSU and Kiffin's daughter pays a visit to Oxford. This is a guaranteed over based on Kiffin's response to his daughter announcing her relationship with Chad LB Whit Weeks. LSUs early victories have been losing their luster as Clemson and Florida seasons have collapsed. We shall see if Division II transfer Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss continues his impressive play. Ole Miss is a 1.5 point home favorite.
Next we go to College Station as Auburn, after being robbed by the refs in Norman, pays a visit. The Aggies are coming off their biggest road win since Johnny Manziel beat Bama. The Aggies are a 6.5-point home favorite.
Keep the clicker handy for two prime time games. First, we go to Happy Valley as Oregon pays a visit. The Nittany Lions have been more the Cowardly Lions racking up wins against The Little Sisters of the Poor. A young Oregon, including highly recruited QB Dante Moore, will be playing their first big time away game. We shall see if PSU QB Drew Allar finally shows up against a near pear competitor. The game will be a White Out although PSU has a record of 2-5 for White Out games against Top 10 opponents. We Are Penn State is a 3.5-point favorite.
Finally we go to Athens as 'Bama plays the Dwags. People are hyping up 'Bama claiming they righted the ship playing one of the ULs and a B1G bottom feeder in Wisconsin. Starting in 2008, Alabama has a 9-1 record against UGa. UGa is the standard 3-point home favorite.
Thanks for posting.
Apologies if this is little off topic but the transfer portal has ruined college football.....at least for me anyway.
Does Pittman make it to Monday if Arkansas can’t beat Notre Dame?? I say no...
Indeed. However, there are a lot of developments in recent years that have ruined college football. If I were in charge, these are the changes I would make:
I’m OK with all of that except the playoff thing. All other divisions do it and it’s fine in D1 as well id just expand how many teams are in it.
Also, the NCAA needs to force the notre dame football program into a conference.
That it isn’t is criminal as far as I’m concerned.
I agree that Notre Dame should be forced into a conference. For some reason, the media continues to treat the Domers as America's College Football Team, and keeps them in run for the playoffs despite two losses. However, the days of Rockne, Leahy, Ara and Holz are long gone, and the Domers have not won a natty since the Reagan presidency.
One word my friend....MONEY
I quit watching most sports some time ago and I am glad I did. You have to many different channels to go to now and also you have to pay for many of them.
We listen to football on the radio.
The kind that uses an antenna.
Since we’re not a ratings family, nobody’s making money off of us.
The deal that NBC has with ND is the only reason they're in the conversation. No one else such a deal. As for their chances of making the playoffs, it has to be near-0 at this point, and there's no reason to consider them since they do not have any remaining games against ranked opponents that could change their ranking in a meaningful way (sorry, USC).
If we're going to force ND to join a conference, the UConn should be forced to as well. We have a couple of situational independents this year (Oregon State, Washington State, UMass) but UConn and ND have been independent for a long time.
My wife loves football and always has.
If it were solely up to me we wouldn’t watch much else sports wise other than the UFC and other MMA.
If the curtain were to be pulled back on pro football, given the state of the character (or lack there of) of many of the players, it wouldn’t surprise me if at least half of ‘em are gambling on other nfl teams.....and probably on or even against their own team....and that goes for college as well.
I used to love sports but the baseball strike in 1991 and football strike ended that. I learned that I could survive without them.
Also listening to them whine about not being able to survive on 25 million a year just got to be too much.
“the baseball strike in 1991...”
Yep, since that I doubt I’ve even watched a whole inning.
Me, too. Well, that and NIL. It must be a nightmare for coaches. No school loyalty like we used to have.
Yet, I still love watching the college game. I gotta get my work done early tomorrow so I can enjoy as much of the day as I can.
The transfer portal has made college football feastvof famine.
Perfect example is Florida State....they went 2โ10 last season.....this season they’ve already beat Alabama.
If you turned hearing the word “transfer” into a drinking game during a college game you’d more than likely be wasted by the end of the first half. ๐
*** My wife loves football and always has.***
You married well. So did my husband.
I donโt watch UFC or MMA, but I do watch hockey, soccer, some basketball, and some baseball, and even golf and tennis when hubby is up for those.
told ya....Billy Napier soon to follow:
I think the Gators are holding off on firing Napier, because they might be able to fire him for cause regarding the Jaden Rashada NIL deal.
RIP Ray Lane
Well at least he saw the Tigers clinch the post-season spot.
Come on Rangers, beat the Tribe!
