Reporter asks: "Mr President, do you support NATO countries shooting down Russian aircraft in their airspace?"
President Trump: "Yes I do."
HEADLINE: "
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft if they enter NATO territory!!"
Altering the statement from "would you support" to "we should do it!" within a space of just 3 words.
That is what Mucous wants people to believe and why he posted it. LOL
Every country has the right to do that.
YEs, I picked up on that as well. Throw in a loaded question just to produce the desired headline.
MarkyMax probably lit up a cigarette after posting that.
Your point about how the news skews what people say is good. It’s very common, even SOP for them.
At the same time, Trump’s message is clear.
Actually, your “quote” is incorrect, and more misleading than the headline. Where did you get that the question was “would you support”? The actual question was:
Reporter: “Mr. President, do you think that NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft if they enter their airspace?”
President Trump: “Yes, I do.”
Soon after, Trump did qualify that “yes”, with it “depends on the circumstance.”
If the aircraft are carrying a strike package and it was more than just “skirting” a line, then they would likely be downed. Incursions over land or near it are much serious than the airspace incursions that happened last week, where there is only a narrow corridor of international airspace between the Nordic countries and the Baltics.
