Sinclair Broadcast Group announced Monday that it would preempt ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” when it returns Tuesday night.
“Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming. Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show’s potential return,” the company’s statement read.
Sinclair, which operates 30 ABC affiliates, previously joined Nexstar, another owner of ABC affiliates, in preempting Kimmel’s show last week after he made controversial comments regarding Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin. …

Good for them!
In August, Nextstar announced that it intended to buy one of its competitors, Tegna, which owns 13 ABC affiliate stations. But in order for the deal to go through, the F.C.C. would have to not only approve it, but also potentially raise the nationwide cap on the percentage of households a single entity’s television stations are allowed to reach.
Looks like the only viewers of Jimmy’s renewed next show will be in the studio. lol
Rerun some old, uncut (50’s and earlier) Warner Brothers, Disney, and MGM cartoons. Comedy gold. Ratings will skyrocket.
Ku Klux Kimmel
Back in the ‘70s, CBS ran “The Bugs Bunny Show” in prime time for a summer replacement. It made Top 20.
Any FCC revocation power over ABC extends ONLY to the stations owned by ABC.
Disney Entertainment Television’s eight owned ABC stations are comprised of
WABC-TV New York,
KABC-TV Los Angeles,
WLS-TV Chicago,
WPVI-TV Philadelphia,
KTRK-TV Houston,
KGO-TV San Francisco,
WTVD-TV Raleigh-Durham and
KFSN-TV Fresno.
It is also important to remember that what triggered Kimmel’s deplatforming by ABC was local station ownerNexstar’s informing of Disney executives that their company would be pre-empting Jimmy Kimmel Live! on the 28 ABC stations it owned, everywhere from Nashville to Salt Lake City to Hartford to New Orleans.
Smaller competitor Sinclair followed, and Disney soon “had little choice but to cancel Wednesday’s show and put Kimmel on indefinite leave.’
They need to make those limits stricter not looser !
No matter what happens, he is still a jerk and is as funny as my left not.
Who doesn’t love Bugs vs. Yosemite Sam?
Hoping someone will post a list of advertisers on the broadcast. Tenga owns the Dallas ABC affiliate.
ABC O&O are in San Francisco, Los Angles, Fresno, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Houston and Raleigh/Durham. So Kimmel will probably be able to reach most of his viewers. Kind of surprised ABC doesn’t swap Houston for Austin. Houston’s a bigger market, but Austin is more of their kind of people.
No, during Covid ABC's ESPN was broadcasting cornhole tournaments. Cornholing might be a smoother transition for Kimmel viewers.
Satan doesnt go down without a fight-
You beat me to the O&O list.
Would be hilarious of some mundane news program got better ratings than they were getting with JKL. I bet “Funny Cat Videos” would do the trick.
Put old reruns of Johnny Carson so everybody can see what a true funny late night host is like.
They should purchase the top 10 Johnny Carson shows and just play them over and over.
