Or they could do the opposite. In "Wicked", the wicked witch of the west was black, unloved, oppressed, smarter and more gifted than the spoiled, loved, privileged, white, dumber, ungifted good witch of the north. Or in Star Wars, Hans Solo was demoted from swashbuckling hero to feeble, over rated old man, and killed off. Maybe they cast Harry as black, gay or trans, so he can play a hero, he could certainly get the Hans Solo treatment (though not killed off)...
