He better have been technically “in” or the shooter is in trouble. There is a case where a guy punched through a sidelight window next to a front door and was shot dead by the occupant inside the house. The court ruled that the fist going through the sidelight constituted “entry” and the home’s occupant was found not guilty.

The CCL holder was taken to Area 4 for questioning.

Well, you need to have a Firearm Owners ID card or FOID to posess and firearm or ammunition in Illinois or you are committing a crime, even in your own home.

Blatantly un-Constitutional, but the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals has never seen a gun control butt it didn't want to kiss.

There is no way to ever know how many future crimes may have been prevented with this one justifiable act of a citizen protecting himself/family/home which resulted in a guy ending up at room temperature.

My understanding of Illinois CCL law ( and I’m a CCL holder in Illinois), is that you can’t use deadly force against someone, even in your own home, if they aren’t threatening you with deadly force.

If someone is breaking down your door that doesn’t constitute use of deadly force in itself. If they break down your door and come at you, that’s another matter.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

3400 W. Monroe isn’t the south side, it is the middle of the west side. Media sucks in Chicago. The west side is predominantly black, south side is a mix of black, white, and hispanics. I guess they don’t want to demonize a certain demographic too much.
