Masked children have been caught on terrifying surveillance footage playing a Purge-style prank on a family's home in Alabama, with police warning that the TikTok-inspired stunt could quickly turn deadly.
Door camera footage captured the children running up to a family's home in Daphne and banging on their front door on Saturday night just after 10pm.
One boy appeared to use his t-shirt to cover his face and the other pulled the hood of his sweater over his head.
The boys then sprinted back into the dark, as the homeowners emerged out of their front door less than a minute later to investigate the noise.
Fellow residents within the Timbercreek neighborhood said the same boys had banged on the windows and doors of several homes on the same night.
Reacting to the incident, Daphne police warned that what may seem like a harmless prank could have incredibly dangerous consequences.
'If you're a homeowner and you see this on your your surveillance cameras, then you would only assume the worst, especially at that time of night,' DPD Captain David Smith said, WKRG reported.
'What they think is a joke and harmless could really quickly turn tragic,' Smith told the outlet.
The prank appeared to be part of a social media trend known as the Door Kick Challenge, where teenagers record themselves ringing the doorbell of a home or kicking and hitting doors before running away.
Smith noted similar incidents occurring in Houston not long ago, which took a turn for the worse after a spooked homeowner took up arms.

I lived in Timber Creek for years. Upper class neighborhood on a golf course. I probably know their parents. Kids would run up and down the fairways all the time. I had some jump my fence and use my pool once. No harm done, just kids being kids.
No. No it isn’t. Daphne and Mobile are separated by the Mobile Bay. They’re in totally different counties. And Timber Creek is actually in Spanish Fort, not Daphne. We lived in the neighborhood for almost ten years.
If you must sally forth to engage the enemy, don't come out the front door. That's what they expect. You have other options ... options they aren't expecting.
We had one about a year ago on a Sat. afternoon, kicked our door so hard it cracked the frame and and dented it. We had a rapid knocker at 1:30am this past Sat night—sick of this sh**.
FAFO. stupid kids.
Future “winners”, all.
Good luck, Society.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. = FAFO
the homeowners emerged out of their front door less than a minute later to investigate the noise.
“This is how kids get their a$$ shot and killed late at night.”
This is also how homeowners end up in prison if they shoot a kid in a protected class.
This prank also endangers people by muddying the waters on real attacks. Some where, some time, those pounding on doors and windows will be home invaders; homeowners trained by experience to assume it’s just kids playing will not be ready for what comes next.
MOST OF US HERE ON FR WERE ALSO “JUST KIDS” AT ONE TIME.
I WOULD BET THAT NONE OF JUMPED SOMEONE’S FENCE & USED THE POOL.
WHERE I LIVE-—HARD ENOUGH TO KEEP THE COYOTES AWAY.
We did
Why is this terrifying video? It is video of kids doing stupid stuff that could and has ended in terrible results, but the video itself is not terrifying.
They also see this crap on tv shows, movies and video games. All we watched when we were kids were John Wayne war and western movies, and creatures like ants, tarantulas, and humans disfigured by radiation.
I never did that. IF I had and got caught there would have been hell to pay with my parents.
It’s been a few years since I’ve been down that way. I must have Daphne confused with another locale.
Pretty common occurrence when I was a kid. We jumped fences to get down to a river to swim too. We had kids cutting our yard/driveway as a short cut to the basketball court. That particular kid plays football now for the University of Miami and one of the kids who snuck in to use the pool is running back punts and playing behind Patrick Surtain Jr with the Broncos. Just imagine if I had shot either one of them...
But, would they have shot you?
the neighbors? No, that wouldn’t have happened. Different times.
This is why, as jurors, we need to protect each other from malicious prosecution.
No real patriot would try to avoid jury service.
