The Daily Beast publicly apologized to first lady Melania Trump last week for publishing an article alleging a modeling agent connected to notorious sex predator Jeffrey Epstein introduced her to her husband, President Trump.
The article, headlined, “Melania Trump ‘Very Involved’ in Epstein Scandal: Author,” was retracted in July after the lefty outlet was contacted by Melania’s lawyers — but the editor’s note affixed to the story at the time did not directly apologize to the first lady or address the dubious claims made by author Michael Wolff on a Daily Beast podcast, which the article was based on.
“Upon reflection, we have determined that the article did not meet our standards and has therefore been removed from our platforms,” read the updated editor’s note. “In response to a letter from the First Lady’s attorneys, The Daily Beast has also removed a portion of an episode of The Daily Beast Podcast titled ‘Trump’s Epstein Scandal Can’t Stop Won’t Stop’ referencing the First Lady. The First Lady points to her best-selling book Melania as the definitive account of her life story.
“We apologize to the First Lady and our readers.”
Melania shared the outlet’s apology on X, with the caption: “Retraction & Apology from The Daily Beast.”
Wolff — who the president criticized earlier this year as a “Third Rate Reporter … laughed at even by the scoundrels of the Fake News” — charged in an interview with “The Daily Beast Podcast” that Melania was “very involved” in Trump’s “relationship” with Epstein.
“She’s introduced by a model agent, both of whom Trump and Epstein are involved with. She’s introduced to Trump that way,” Wolff alleged. “Epstein knows her well.”
