All I need is a body with seats, a frame, engine, tires, and axles. Any other part needed is strictly minimal hardware.
No fancy electronics and I am good to go. I generally leave my flip phone at home because they do not need to know where I am going.
I had a series 3 Land Rover back in the early ‘70s. Loved it for roaming around the woods. Maintenance wise it was horrible. When I drove out of the dealership, the salesman said “see you in a few days when the speedometer cable breaks.” Sure enough after a few days it broke. Cause was a kink during assembly. Couldn’t fix it until it broke. The exhaust manifold cracked every 18,000 miles like clockwork. The door lock tumblers would come out with the key. Smoke came out of the dash panel because of loose connectors letting go and causing shorts. What an adventure. Never would consider another Brit vehicle.
