In preparation for Sunday's The Bend 500km Supercars Championship, a series sponsored by Cobb County, Georgia-based Genuine Parts Company, an incident occurred Friday night (EDT) in the support paddock at Tailem Bend Motorsport Park (known as Shell V-Power Motorsport Park for commercial reasons), in South Australia. The person in question (unknown if it was driver, mechanic, or other support staff) died.

The 3.073 mile circuit's schedule for the weekend features Aussie Racing Cars, vintage Australian Touring Car Masters, SCCA US Trans-Am TA2 (as to distinguish between Sprint Car Council of Australia, the term "SCCA US" is used since TA2 specifications are controlled by the Sports Car Club of America), Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, and FIA TCR World Tour. They have said nothing about which paddock was involved.

This is the second major incident of the weekend. A few weeks ago, it was explained that an overseas shipping delay from Portugal delayed the TCR World Tour cars and caused Friday practice sessions to be scrubbed for TCR. The feature is the 102 lap, 313.48 mile Supercars race.
