Ok. Then why would he put the gun back together to leave it in the woods? If he was going to leave it somewhere that it was easy to find, why not leave it on the roof?

If Cops roll up, he’s using his weapon. He abandoned it after he was alone in the trees and had escaped, in his mind.

He wanted the gun if he was confronted in that parking lot and on that street he crosses. It’s not disassembled.

When he’s alone in the woods, he’s gone.
