Mauser is an ongoing concern, and makes a mid-tier modern bolt action rifle. 6 pounds, composite stock. The gun in the FBI photo is not an antique rifle, but too blurry to defintely say it is the Mauser M18.

|I think some over estimate how the difficult the shot was, as a shot, without factoring in adrenaline, if the shooter used a modern scope, and rifle. Forty odd years ago, as a broke youngster, shooting forty year old, WW2 era, military surplus ammo, out of a pre-WW1 military surplus rifle, with a 4X Weaver scope, that I sighed in myself, using the just the instructions in the box, I would have called it a chancy shot.

Today, using modern ammunition, a modern, $800 rifle, with a $350, 4X-12X scope, hitting a torso sized target at 200 yards is not a difficult shot (without factoring in adrenaline).

And there are guys at the range who can hit a shirt pocket at that distance.
