One question that comes to mind - why are scientists trying so hard to “find” evidence of life on Mars? The stated purpose of the Martian rovers - and the enormous expense entailed- is to look for ancient life.

Why? Are they trying to “prove” that life is self-generating and common?

If they don’t find anything at all, then what?

Not necessarily self generating. It is just as possible that the Creator made life for Mars.
The fact that our scientists cannot find any solid self generation scenario on earth would, at the present time, rule out any “time, chance, water, minerals, energy” self generation of life for Mars also.
But they want tax dollars to find out.
No guarantee that tax dollars couldn’t be shunted to other non Mars projects
Watch out for the Space-Industrial complex.
If “they” don’t find anything, “they” will try and find it on another planet, moon, asteroid, or large comet. “NO” is a difficult word to accept.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
