I and two other Sophomore teammates made the Varsity team in football in high school in the late 70s. We were hazed using the “Atomic Situp” gag. I knew what it was and refused. I was 6’ 4” and 230 lbs. so refusal was straight forward.
This stuff has happened for decades and is typical juvenile clowning around. However, bc now we have a camera recording our every movement, this is now a bigger deal than it should be.

This same thing happened on my High School football team in the ‘80’s. I did not witness it. I did not understand it then and still don’t today.
Difference is back then it was quietly kept secret by the coaches and staff. I still wonder how it affected that young man. Nothing was done to the perp as he was the star player.

I am tired of and disgusted by this sort of thing. It is supposed to be somehow some kind of sick quasi-macho behavior for men to joke around about committing violent homosexual acts. What kind of deviant hellish alternate reality have we descended into for this to be winked at and joked about?
Even here on FreeRepublic it seems to be a point of pride to be extensively clued in and knowledgeable about all of the side deviant sickening varieties of sexual activities.
As a kid growing up in the ‘60s, the word for this was “nasty”. We were taught to stay away from nasty talk and avoid nasty people.
