So, there are no photos of a giant 100 yard by 100 yard square over a secured site from 2003? Not exactly the Middle Ages.

There's always the possibility that they were taken down by top secret, advanced weaponry that's being developed in "black labs"....
I think many people, like yourself, believe that someone would have to a superior intelligence in order to have mastered interstellar flight. It is more probable that their civilization is perhaps just older than ours, giving them longer to develop that technology. Our scientific/industrial capabilities are merely 200 years old. Image if a distant civilization never went through a "dark ages". That alone would put them about 1000 years ahead of us.
So, their presence simply does not indicate they are more intelligent that we are, just been at it longer.

The possibilities are wide open.
But you first have to master atmospheric flight before space travel. How can you visit a planet you had studied for decades from your home planet, KNOW that your destination has an atmosphere and arrive unprepared for atmospheric flight? That makes zero sense.
We know how much about those planets orbiting distant stars?

It strikes me a very possible to screw up an unmanned probe operating that far from home. I think some of them crashed due to unforeseen circumstances and even equipment failures. Perhaps others were shot down. It has also been proposed that the visitors shoot each other down. There are ISS videos which back up that notion.
