Humanity trends inexorably towards oppressive government. Socialism has proved extremely effective in advancing that goal. I don’t look for it to go away any time soon.
“People are stupid. They will believe any lie as long as they want it to be true or are afraid it is true.”* Socialism promises earthly paradise without working for it. Stupid and lazy people WANT to believe it so they do, rejecting logic and the overwhelming evidence that socialism has never been anything but a disaster every time it’s tried.
