I'm with you. If you're a professional writer, you should know how to craft a proper sentence in English. How many times have you heard a reporter on national TV say something like:

The suspect that robbed the bank fled on foot.

when it should be:

The suspect who robbed the bank fled on foot.

The problem is English teachers don't want to teach grammar. They would rather spend time reading Leftist symbolism in a phone book.

It's not so much grammar as idiom.

Understanding the idiom leads to correct spelling.
