Major problem, the kid rang the bell and ran. If you’re in a “fear for your life” issue. You shoot till the threat stops. If the assailant retreats you don’t shoot. If you shoot, you shoot till the threat stops. This guys is in trouble, and the kid was wrong. Now he and the kid’s parents get to live with it. Life sucks. It sucks worse when you’re stupid. IMO
A couple questions then: What is retreating? Is it when the assailant turns and runs away from you or something else? If not something else then how do you know the assailant isnt going for cover/concealment to continue the fight, going for help to escalate the fight or going for other weapons?
There was never any threat here. Ringing a bell is not a threat. Ringing a bell and running away is also not a threat. Turning around in a driveway - not a threat.
Being annoyed is NOT a threat.
