So the TV show Portlandia was a more or less accurate portrayal of the strangeness of that city?

yes, it was....I lived in Beaverton and took the light rail in to downtown Portland.... the city at the time had a large population of homeless kids mostly runaways that lived in the downtown area. there was a subculture there of angry kids We would have riots about leftist causes in the town that at the time would be put down fairly fast. My only thought is that those kids that were rioting about global warming are the one running antifa today. there was also a party rave scene going on and a lot of ecstasy and heroin being distributed. This was 30 years ago I can only guess what it is today.
