Beijing is set to witness one of the largest diplomatic gatherings on Wednesday, with the world particularly focused on the participation of China’s President Xi Jinping, his Russian and Iranian counterparts, along with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
While it will be Kim’s maiden participation in any multilateral event since he assumed power in 2011, it will also be the first time that the leaders of China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea will be at the same place, attending Beijing’s military parade to commemorate the Chinese victory against the Japanese aggression and end of World War II, as well as the 80th year of the UN's founding.

Riyaz ul Khaliq. One of my favorite Turkish reporters.
Good place for a meteor to come down. Preferably a big one.
Of course it was the Nationalist Chinese who were fighting the Japanese, not Mao.
link does not work
Putin’s botched invasion of Ukraine is over!
And America defeated Japan. Not China.
Yes, but the Chinese did tie down a lot of Japanese troops in China. I don’t know if that made any difference to the Japanese ability to fight elsewhere. Heard on a recent program on C-SPAN that the Japanese were interested at the end in a cease-fire with the US to allow them to continue their war in China. Of course the US would not accept that.
Маркус, if only your history was as busy getting informed as your posting are busy....
Chiang Kai-shek, who led China [ until the CCP came to power in 1949 ] was an ally in the Pacific War.
If you had consulted any of the online source, the allies against Imperial Japan were "The major Allied participants included China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands. China had already been engaged in a war against Japan since 1937. "
"We" is a pronoun which includes our allies. Even the little Netherlands.
But in terms of making Japan surrender, it was the American atomic bombs that did that. How many bombs did the Chinese drop on Japan?
The Dutch East Indies (present-day Indonesia) belonged to the Netherlands at the time and were invaded by Japan. So naturally the Netherlands, although occupied by the Germans, were part of the alliance against Japan.
We do not disagree on this. The end of the war was "Fat Man." The preceding years from 1941 to 1945 involved all the allies, and at great cost to all. China's war with Japan went from 1937 forward.
America nuked Japan and won the war. China didn’t do squat.
Again, we do not disagree.
Nope. From 1937 forward, and in spite of the photo posted to this thread above, and in spite of their being allied with us, they "didn't do squat." Your grip on history is tenuous.
America kicked Japan’s ass. Live with it, Mao.
