I had a bootleg CD OF Ella Fitzgerald live at the Royal Roost in ‘48/’49, and the Ray Brown Trio backed her up. Highly recommended. [They were married at the time.]
On Ella’s GREAT “Clap Hands” album, she does “Cry Me A River” and changes a lyric to take a shot at Ray.
I guess they did not have a friendly divorce...
I have a “dry” copy of “Clap Hands” copied direct from the studio master tape - awesome sound quality.
