Washington D.C. is the nation's capital, and the federal government ultimately has the responsibility for how it is run. The idea that it the feds shouldn't have a role in making it safe is ridiculous.

That being said, ordinary street crime in other American cities isn't the business of the federal government. That's the responsibility of those cities, and the people living in them who voted for that political leadership.

I have zero interest in helping to rescue those cities from the consequences of their own political choices.

It’s even worse than that. Generally, black women and older men don’t commit murders in huge, disproportioned numbers. So, 3% of the population, males under age 35, commit about 50% of the murders.
